Today the team spent most of the day with Michele and Alessandra (our sponsors) and Piero (a GIS expert). We had a coffee meeting in the beautiful Campo Santa Margherita where we discussed everyone's vision for the project. Alessandra is more interested in the technical aspect of the project, namely the application to display and interact with land, whereas Michele is more interested in the user experience of the app.
We also had lunch at a fantastic restaurant in the same area just to get to know each other better!
It is important to everyone involved in the project that the methodology is nailed down and reproducible. We need to be able to correctly identify different aspects of land to properly classify them for their best use. We've reached out to our WPI librarian, Laura, for assistance in finding past classification criteria, and are also going to the Giudecca island with Michele to observe criteria he would use to classify land in order to clarify this portion of our project.
Additionally, we acquired some relevant GIS data from Alessandra and Piero regarding important green spaces and integral attributes potential clients are interested in.
Until next time,
Green Team
Here is some of the new data we got:
Blue dots are trees which may be near more green spaces
Turquoise dots are important places with ill-defined boundaries (That's where we come in!)
Turquoise rectangles are important places
