Southland Marathon

Once again Val took part in the Southland Marathon, this year the weather was perfect and a field of 50 meant that there would always be someone to chase on the long straight roads from Riverton to Invercargill.

In a nutshell Val ran well – was never stressed or tired and ran well within herself; she clocked the second slowest time she has ever run on the course and still finished Second Lady and first over 35.

The only reason we can give for her slow time was – she didn’t run fast enough. She got in to a steady pace and kept it for the entire distance getting cose to negative splits for the two half marathons.

The good news was she had no repetition of her knee complaint so Val is now planning to take part in the Sri Chinmoy 50 k race in Christchurch on December 11th at Hagley Park.
