This metal bodied banjolele was produced by the Musical Instrument Specialities Co. of Elkhart, Indiana, (well the metal body and resonator were, I don't know if the made the wooden necks or brought them in?), initally for distributors like Bruno, then marketed themselves under the "Banjo-Ette" name, and finally exported to Europe as well. I know nothing about the deal or the importer but there are a lot of them about, including both of my residents here at Ukulele Corner. I don't know if this one was ever branded "Maxitone", I don't know if Bruno, (whose brand it was), had anything to do with the trade? But I know MISCo. Made them and according to Bruno's US adverts they came in 8 finishes. This one is the Silver / White finish, and I call it Maxitone because I know there were Maxitones like this, (and I have to call it something and something that differentiates if from the Copper / Orange one).
