Alvin Keech Type A Banjulele
was My other Keech A

I got this  in an auction where it was listed with the Broadcaster as one lot. I don't understand why they were lumped together they were both very nice, playable Banjoleles. OK for the purist the Broadcaster has a replacement tailpiece and the resonator has buckled a little with being over tightened for many years, and this one has replacement tuners, (but fairly good replacement tuners). If they were split into two lots I'm sure they both would have sold; OK I wouldn't have bid on this one but only because there is already a very nice Keech type A at Ukulele Corner, but I would have bid exactly the same for the Broadcaster and Keech type A's are always popular? Well my gain, I suppose, I invited them both, knowing that I wanted the Broadcaster to live at Ukulele Corner, and one of the Keeches would have to go, (unless I could come up with a reason for two of the same model of Keech to live here? But space is getting to be a problem).

When it arrived I was in a small quandary, it is in perfect nick, OK as I said the tuners are modern replacements and I not sure if it was originally this colour or if the old varnish had been removed and it had been re-varnished, (but it it had been, the person doing it had done a very good job). I did for a moment consider keeping both, but space... I did originally put my original one up on eBay, "buy it now", as I already had nice pictures of it, while I got round to photographing this one. Once I had done this though I did swap them over, deciding to keep the other one because it had original tuners, there was no question marks over the colour and the scuffs; or lack of them, and it was, according to the serial numbers, slightly earlier, (this one is 89XX and the one I kept is 7XXX).
