This year the RYA's programme for team race training for post youth age sailors has a new name "RYA 18+.Team Race Training"
We are very lucky in having a team of coaches who have all either sailed or coached GBR at World Championship level, in fact the Head Coach for the September Training has not only represented GBR at the last two World Championships but has just won the most prestigious international Open Championships the Wilson Trophy.
Aim: The course is designed to provide a fast conversion for those whose background is primarily fleet racing and those with strong team racing backgrounds who seek to develop their skills. The course lasts three days and is held before the start of University terms at Oxford. Coaching will be led by Team GBR Team Racers. It is aimed at those hoping to attend University Trials in the autumn. Previous attendees have found Autumn Training an essential ingredient in their success.
Aim: To provide two days of intensive team racing skill training for those who are currently participating in UK Open and/or University Team Racing. This Training takes place over two days at the beginning of December.Coaching is provided by Team GBR Team Racers.
This training will be used to select 24 sailors for Stage 3.
Aim: To enhance the skill base of the best Team Racers so that they can improve competition performance.
By: providing two weekends of intensive team race training for the top 24 sailors within the programme.
This training will be used to select The RYA 18+ Team.
