Air in the east,
Playful element,
The sweet caressing of a long loved friend,
Moves gracefully through the forest;
Tree leaves,
Swaying happily in the wind,
Air’s tool to breathe life into you,
And into me,
Who so much love it,
And dance with its whimsical turning;
Feel the uplifting freedom it brings,
It sings,
Sweet lullabies into everything.
As Air moves about our circle,
It comes to Fire in the south,
The passionate heart,
In each of us,
That beat to the same hot drum,
And rhythm,
Of Fire’s light licks swaying in the sun,
Basking in its energy,
Giving it to me,
To you,
Willing us to leap higher than we dreamed;
Tumultuous passion running over the land.
Wild Fire comes to serene Water in the west of our circle,
Tranquility we find deep inside ourselves,
The peace that flows carelessly through our souls,
Healing wounds we thought would never go –
Water pools and allows us to float when our minds are wrapped in painful chaos;
It keeps us from losing the best of ourselves,
Its gentle waves carry us into a bright future,
Gingerly lifting us up to invite in the smiling day;
Water nudges our feet,
To remind us,
Each day can be calm;
And no wounds too deep to heal.
Water travels to the north of our circle,
And meets loving Earth,
That wakes to meet us,
To hold us up,
To wrap its strong arms around us;
And protect us;
Earth cradles you and me,
To keep us from harm,
And fill our souls with stability,
To remind us that we always have a home,
No matter where we go,
Earth will be waiting to gather us sweetly.
Now that the elements of life –
Those that we see –
Have met in one place,
There is one that we forget,
One that we do not see,
That is exactly us,
And ties all things together.
Spirit has been here,
Inside of you,
Inside of me;
Spirit is the center element,
The holder of life,
Of who we are,
Of what we believe,
Though it isn’t seen,
Spirit is me;
Is you;
Is her;
Is him;
Is everything in the world,
The energy we send;
And receive;
The essence of man;
Of animal;
Of nature;
Spirit is what we are,
And will always be.
