Richard L. Myers, lovingly known as "Rock", passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026 at Memorial Hospital in Marysville at the age of 86. He was born on May 9, 1940 in Champaign County, the son of the late Chad and Ruth (Burden) Myers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Imogene (Northup) Myers; infant son, Michael Lee Myers; brother, Bruce Myers; and sister, Ann Anderson and her husband, Jesse.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda J. Ward and Warren Marsh and Vallarie L. and Brad Plotner; grandchildren, Ashlee Ward, Mark Ward, CJ Marsh, Sydney (Rob) Tobey, Riley Plotner and Hillary (Josh) McCrum; great-grandchildren, Haisley McCrum, Bryson McCrum and Sloane Tobey; sisters, Barb (Rick) McKee and Susan Myers (Jeff Ferst); his significant other, Sandy Nydam; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Throughout his life, he was known for his willingness to serve others. A proud veteran, he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for four of those years. He served the community in many capacities and spent his career as a firefighter with the Urbana Fire Department. Later in life, he enjoyed driving local seniors, combining his love of people with his desire to help those in his community.

He was an avid lifelong golfer, who loved so much the time spent on the course, and a bowler. He enjoyed playing cards with many friends, and he never met a stranger. He was a fan of NASCAR and spent time assisting with Neil Sceva's race team.

He loved watching his daughters and their families’ activities and many milestones. He had a special place in his heart for his beloved pups. For the past 30 years, he truly loved winters in Florida and formed so many lasting friendships. He was a lifelong resident of Urbana, Ohio, and spent more than 60 years in the home he loved.

Faith was an important part of his life, and he enjoyed attending Kennard Nazarene Church. He was a member of the local Moose Lodge, American Legion, and the VFW and valued the relationships each organization provided. He proudly supported the Urbana Hillclimbers.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Memorial Hospital in Marysville, OH for exceptional care with special thanks to the Oncology, Pulmonary, and ICU units who assisted with expertise and grace. A special thank you to all of the friends, family members, neighbors, and fellow golfers who offered prayers and support during his battle. He will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 11a.m.-1p.m. at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home with service beginning at 1p.m. Processional to Oakdale cemetery where military honors will be given will follow the service.
