Yahoo must first be setup to communicate with Outlook using these steps:
1. Login to your Yahoo Mail account via a web browser.
2. Go to the Account Security Settings page.
3. Turn the “Allow apps that use less secure sign in” setting to “On“
If 2-Step Authentication is enabled on your Yahoo account, you will need to create a third-party password just for Outlook using these steps:
1. Visit the Yahoo Account Security page.
2. Select “Account Security” on the left side of the page.
3. Scroll to the bottom and select “Manage app passwords“.
4. Choose “Outlook Desktop” in the “Select your app” field, then select “Generate“.
5. Copy the password that is shown to a safe place. Select “Done“
Outlook 2016
1. From Outlook, go to “File” > “Info” > “Add account“.
2. Select “Manual setup or additional server types“, then select “Next“.
3. Select “POP or IMAP” (IMAP is recommended), then select “Next“.
4. Fill in the following information:
· Your Name: First and last name.
· Email Address: username@yahoo.com
· Account Type: IMAP or POP (Whatever you chose in step 7)
· Incoming mail server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
· Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com
· User Name: username@yahoo.com
· Password: Your Yahoo password. If you have enabled “Two-step verification”, you will have to create an app password.
· Check the “Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)” box.
5. Select the “More Settings…” button.
6. Select the “Outgoing Server” tab, then check the “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” box
7. Select the “Advanced” tab, then fill in the following:
· Incoming server (IMAP): 993
· Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
· Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
· Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
8. Select “OK“
9. Select “Next“. Be patient while communication is established.
10. If the tasks show as “Completed” you should be able to select “Close” and be ready to use Yahoo email with Outlook

When you export your contacts from Outlook, a copy of your contacts is saved to a CSV file, or other file type. You can then use this file to import your contacts to another email account.

1. In Outlook on a PC, choose File.
If your ribbon doesn't have a File option in the top left corner, you're not using Outlook on a PC. See What version of Outlook do I have? to get to the export instructions for your version of Outlook.
2. Choose Open & Export > Import/Export.
3. Choose Export to a file.
4. Choose Comma Separated Values.
5. THIS STEP IS KEY especially if you're borrowing a friend's computer: In the Select folder to export from box, scroll to the top if needed and select the Contacts folder that's under your account. Choose Next.
6. Choose Browse, name your file, and choose OK.
7. Confirm where your new contacts file will be saved on your computer, and choose Next.
8. Choose Finish to start exporting your contacts immediately. Outlook doesn't display any message when the export process is complete but the Import and Export Progress box goes away.
