This module was a more in depth study of OSI/ISO Model. In specific, we read chapters 4, 5, 6 about Data link, Network, and Transport Layer which explore more detail on each layer, and several video from Eli the Guy which introduced the basic Switch concepts, managed vs. Unmanaged Switches, and VLANS, etc. He also explained on the components and concepts in a Transmission Control Program/Internet Program (TCP/IP) such as How TCP/IP works, Subnets and Subnet masking, routable and nonroutable protocols, and Default Gateways. From Professor Messer on Networking Tutorials, He explained the Protocols and address which related addressing standards, Common ports, network technologies, IPv4 and IPv6, network cabling and connectors, network types, and wireless networking. we also watched videos from Wireshark. Gerald Combs provided a conceptual overview of Wireshark software and explained how the Wireshark can be used for network troubleshooting. Laura Chappell gave an instruction on how to capture, save, and analyze network’s packet traffic by using the Wireshark and how to explore captured packet detail.
The learning artifact I chose for this module was the deliverable from series of video from Professor Messer. He gave me more knowledge in protocols, common ports, and IP addressing which helped me know how to configure the network system and assign the IP address. Also, He explained the network technologies such as the differences between LAN and WAN, and gave me a basic concept of Wireless networking in standards for wireless networking and different members of the 802.11 family as well as how to configure the wireless network to make it more secure.
