Domain Name System (DNS)
Domain Name System (DNS) is IP address translated to text that is readable by humans. It is a protocol within the set of standards for how computers exchange data on the Internet and on many private networks, known as the TCP/IP protocol suite.
For example: www.rackspace.com = 72.32.191.88
DNS contains two main parts: Host Name (www) and Domain Name.
The domain name is broken to two levels: Top level Domain (.com) and second level Domain (rackspase).
