This module was an introduction to the concept of networking infrastructure. During this module, we explored the difference between the International Organization for Standardization/Open System Interconnection Model (ISO/OSI) Networking Model and the Internet Protocol Suite, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Model, how one layer works and how it interconnects with other layers. We have read chapter 1, 2, and 3 from the Computer Networking principles, Protocols, and Practice which introduce the concept of the Application and Physical Layer, as well as working through of a series of Rackspace.com tutorials on Domain Name System (DNS), Web Hosting, Web Servers, Load Balancing, and Shared, Dedicated, and Managed Hosting. We also watched several videos from Eli the Guy about The OSI model demystified and from Professor Messer on TCP/IP model which covered the basics concept of five and seven-layer model.
The learning artifact I chose for this module is the table I answered after watching the videos from Eli The Computer Guy and Professor Messer. These videos gave me an in depth and thorough introduction the broad and complex topic of The OSI and TCP/IP model, starting by emphasized the OSI is the logical model on how the network system communicate to each other. Through the video, Eli also explained more detail on each layer how it works and it’s protocol, and hardware. From Professor Messer video, He gave the concept of the TCP/IP Protocol Suite and demonstrate step by step how the message or data move from application layer to the link layer in one side then go to the internet and received at the end-user. He also gave the table that show protocol for each layer such as ARP protocol used at Link layer and TCP, UDP used at Transport layer.
