When I am dealing with an ISP, I would want a static IP address because static does not change IP addresses as often as dynamic.

The functions I normally find in a SOHO router are DHCP, DNS, port forwarding, firewall, and port triggering.

A firewall blocks traffic on specific ports.
5. With a SOHO router, why would redundancy be desirable?
With a SOHO router, redundancy is desirable because if a port fails, it is still possible to have internet.

A Demilitarized Zone (or DMZ) is a computer host or a small network inserted as a "neutral zone" between a company's private network and the outside public network. A small company would want one because it allows members the ability to have internet connection but not let them hack it.

In a small office, the disadvantage of using enterprise level routers is that its more expensive.
