I believe it is a therapeutic tool that is under utilised - Gary Watkins
It is no more surprising to be born twice than to be born once - Voltaire
There are countless books and writings devoted to this subject ; many wise, knowledgeable men and women throughout our known history have given it credence and have firmly expressed their belief, often citing their own experiences.
I have shared below from Dr. Micheal Newton's work -
" Life Between Lives - Hypnotherapy for Spiritual Regression "
Micheal Newton " Imagine the mind as having three concentric circles within each other, from large to small. The three rings are not rigid divisions separate from one another, although they look this way in the diagram. I see them as porous layers in a filtering system of human thought. Visualise a stone thrown into water with waves moving outward from the centre "
The first, outer layer, represents the Conscious Mind, our critical, analytical, coping, everyday reasoning centre.
The second, middle layer is the Subconscious Mind, where all our physical memories, including past lives, are stored. It is also the centre for emotion and imagination. Creative, right - brained people seem to be able to tap into this area more easily than those who are left - brain dominant.
Deep within the centre core ( inner layer ) lies the Superconscious Mind, which houses our divine soul memories.
Utilising the stages of hypnosis gives us the capability to pass in and out , and between, these mental levels that link our conscious, immortal and divine memories. Our eternal soul - mind has evolved from an energy source of superior conceptual thought far beyond what we can imagine. The superconscious mind reveals our immortal character and long history.
Once an appointment has been made I believe the process ( for that client ) has begun. The session begins with a Pre Talk in which concerns, queries, reasons and expectations are discussed and dealt with.
Next, the client settles back into my comfortable Lazy Boy chair ( clients have told me they want to take it home ) and do the induction into trance.
I guide them into a very relaxed space , my suggestions and language often influenced by the specific nature of my client.
I guide them to access memories, sometimes from their earlier current life if I feel this necessary. The process is very intuitive and adapted to each specific client using the most effective metaphors as we proceed to retrieve past life memories.
There are subtle signs I am alert for as the process unfolds.
Once a client " is in " a past life space I frame my questions very carefully to obtain as much detail as possible, bearing in mind that the information is given from the perspective of the person in the time period they find themselves in.
There is an intuitive intelligence that guides the process as a whole and sometimes a regression comes to an ending without the death experience being reached ; sometimes it is reached ( or I guide the person there ) and clients have reported a wonderful peace and calm. If a violent death is encountered I am able to guide the client beyond that to the peaceful place.
There are many permutations of the different experiences people have shared during regressions.
As the regression draws to an end I guide the person gently back to current life wakefulness.
The sessions are recorded for the client.
It must be noted that a regression is significant to the person who has experienced it ; one lady shared information from what could be described as a mundane, hum drum life, as a housekeeper to a wealthy family in England in the early 1800's. She was nevertheless thrilled, as for her it resonated with some personal aspects of her current life, but most significantly proved to her that she had lived before, and she now longer feared death in her current life - a most liberating feeling for her.
A man who reported of a life in the middle east ( my term ) walking with a man he said was called the Teacher by those who thronged around him. My client said that this Teacher healed people and spoke to them daily. My client told me his own name was John in this life.
It was a remarkable regression because "John " did not deem it necessary to speak too much of himself but did share some beautiful spiritual lessons and insights. My client has since passed over but in his life he was a humble man who did healing for many people.
Another client, a young Indian man ( 20 ) spoke of experiences as a US soldier - radio operator - in Vietnam and described a contact with Viet Cong forces. He used terms like " Huey " ( a helicopter ) , " contact " , " fire fight " , "casevac " ( evacuating wounded men ) , " incoming " ( enemy mortars ) , " laying down fire " ( concentrated gunfire on a target ) , " buddy " ( his friend ), " Charlie " ( Viet Cong ). He described getting back to the forward base and finding that his one buddy who had been casevaced was okay and would live. The next day, out on patrol again, his platoon was fired upon as they were being lifted out by a Huey. He went quiet suddenly and I realised he had been killed. I could get no further information and decided to end the process. His actions in the events described were very courageous , as were those of others with him but none considered them as such. Once the regression was done and he was awake he described the experience as very emotional, although he was quite calm. The very interesting part was that in his current life he had no clue to anything about the Vietnam War.
Another client session which was quite remarkable for reasons I only became aware of quite a while after the regression, was that of a young lady who passed away from a respiratory illness.
She mentioned feeling afraid , and angry with her husband who was older than her ( and therefore should have been wiser, she said ).
I made suggestions to her that perhaps she could forgive him and release the anger as it was not really his fault.
She described her passing over as a " floating into light " ; my client's face was serene as she described this.
My client told me she loved the experience and felt uplifted.
The remarkable aspect is that about a month later I encountered her at a holistic fair and she jokingly said I was going to be cross with her for what she wanted to tell me.
Naturally I was curious and asked her to explain.
She said that on her client form she had not noted that she had suffered from asthma and sinusitis most of her life. I
said with a smile that I would amend the form and not to worry, I wasn't cross. But, she said not to bother as since the regression she had had no symptoms at all of sinusitis or asthma.
Again, months later, I bumped into her at another fair and she reaffirmed that she was fine.
I truly learnt the power of the timeless mind through this regression.
My suggestions of healing and forgiveness had been the catalyst for her releasing the respiratory problems in this life - and also for her applying those lessons in her current life.
Another client did two regressions into the same lifetime where he described being a Viking, marauding in Britain, and finally being killed in battle. He learnt to release anger towards a person in his current life , who was with him in the Viking life and had betrayed him.
Many questions could be asked about the lessons souls choose to learn and the rationale behind the choices of experiences in which to achieve this. Clients receive their own insights and can correlate events or situations in their current life to what they discover in a regression. Sometimes the lesson is more about the feelings that are a common feature. Then, a decision can be made to deal with the source of the feelings in the current life. There are many, many permutations.
I have found that in all regressions there is some therapeutic effect, even if it becomes apparent long after the session.
The process is safe and closure on each session is achieved.
