The sand was warm and soft underneath her feet. She stretched forward and let herself topple into the soft dunes. It sizzled from her heat and she rolled. The journals described how much she liked to roll in the sand, but, they could not capture the true sensation of the sun-heated sand. She rolled and rolled until she reached the shore.
When she reached the wet sand, she stopped. Steam hissed around her as the foamy fringe of a wave lapped at her arm. She stared out across the waves and wondered if the rest of the journals were true. She wondered if the Heart of the Sea was real and if they truly had met a lifetime ago. She rolled onto her back and shut her eyes. More importantly, she wondered if, and when, they would meet again.
