“Have you forgotten my conditions, mortal?”
The stench of rotten flesh and soil filled my nose and I cringed away from the offensive beast in front of me. Dried blood flecked their skin and their teeth looked sharp as butcher knives. Cruel, blue eyes sliced through the gloaming with the same brutality his mouth and claws appeared to possess. I knew what manner of creature I dealt with, but, to my dismay, I did not know why I was dealing with the corpse swallower.
I took a step back, but the monster closed the distance behind us and loomed over me. I felt weak from the aura that surrounded him. It soaked into my body and drew away the strength I needed to run away, even if my escape was only meant to be temporary, until I remembered what it was I struck a deal about with the bird of death. My back pressed against the wall. I was trapped with only one possible course of action. I had to stall.
“I guess that depends on what you mean by conditions. There are so many different things that could be conditions, I can’t just limit it to-”
“You’ve forgotten the contract. You’ve forgotten your sister’s extra day of life.”
