There came a day when no one saw
the dragon walk outside at all.
They wondered what the problem was,
for that was what their dragon does,
but even as they paced the ground,
a fearsome beast had come around,
with claws and teeth and skin of ice,
it severed Mono once, then, twice.
It ate its heart and warped its mind,
a frozen dragon for all time.
Without its love or rhyme and reason,
it was no creature to believe in.
It froze the city, killed everyone,
the bittercold had come and won.
