Character Creation for SWADEPUNK is mostly the same as in the Savage Worlds. This is outlined here to help facilitate character creation.
1. Choose a >Race. For the purposes of this game, the races are Cyborg, Human 1.0, and Human 2.0.
2. Assign 5 points to your attributes. These are Agility, Smarts, Spirit, Strength, and Vigor. Each Attribute starts at d4. Spend 1 point to raise one attribute one die type (d4 to d6, d6 to d8, etc.). No attribute may rise higher than d12 during character creation unless your race allows for it..
3. Choose an >Origin. This determines additional skills and gear.
4. Assign >Skills. You have 15 points to spend on your character's skills. To raise a skill, spend 1 point to raise a skill to a higher die type, as long as the skill level is equal to or less than the linked attribute. Raising any skill above the linked attribute costs 2 points per level. No skill may rise above d12 during character creation. Note: Every character has 5 core skills, and two skills from their Origin that starts at d4 automatically.
5. Determine your Derived Statistics. They are Pace, Parry, Toughness, Firewall, Strain, and Street Cred. All Derived statistics can be modified by Edges or Hindrances.
Pace is 6" in a round and you can move an additional 1d6 if they run. Each Inch represents 2 yards in the real world
Parry is equal to 2 plus half your character's Fighting.
Toughness is 2 plus half your character's Vigor. Armor is tracked separately, but is added to your Vigor total. If your Vigor is 6 and you have 4 points of armor, it is read as 6(10).
Firewall is 2 plus half your character's Smarts. If the character has the Unplugged Hindrance, it starts at 0 and that character does not have a WIP.
Strain is equal to your character's unmodified Vigor die. You have that many points of cyber- and bioware to install before you suffer from cybertrauma.
Street Cred starts at 2.
6. Choose >Edges and Hindrances. You can also choose to be a Combat Decker at this step. Combat Deckers are the only type of spellcaster in the game. To become a Combat Decker, you need to buy the Arcane Background (Combat Decker) as an Edge. You can read more about this in >Hacking.
7. Choose Gear. For the purposes of this game, you start with an existing $10,000 to buy gear and cyberware. You can only keep $1,000 of that as cash. This is in addition to the gear that you all get as part of your Origin, and modified by certain Hindrances like Giri. Also remember you can spend one Hindrance point to double your starting cash.

8. Flesh out your background. Create two friends, two contacts, and two enemies for your character. Doing this earns you an additional Edge.
9. Once this is all finished, give your characters 4 additional Advances to bring them up to Seasoned.
