Favorites Folder: enable/disable

• 1. Run "Registry Editor"

  2. Navigate to the location: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{323CA680-C24D-4099-B94D-446DD2D7249E}\ShellFolder

  3. Open the permissions window for the "ShellFolder" folder by right-clicking on the folder, then by clicking on the "Permissions" option from the pop-up menu.

  4. Select Administrator inside the "Group or user names:" box under "Security" tab.

  5. Check "Allow" checkbox for "Full Control" inside the "Permissions for Administrators box under "Security" tab.

  6. Save the new setting by clicking on "OK" button of the "Permissions for ShellFolder" window.

  7. Select "ShellFolder" and:

     1. if the item "Attributes" does not exist in the folder, then create the DWORD (32-bit) string; and

     2. if the item exists, then select the item

  8. Modify the value of the string, "Attributes", to

• • 1. "a9400100" to disable, or

    2. "a0900100" to enable the "Favorites" folder.
