The major project for Year 10 - Industrial Technology Timber is a coffee table. (See Coffee Table Assessment Sheet below).
Folio
You are required to construct a design folio of the project. This folio must include the following sections:
Statement of Intent
What the project will include.
Skill and processes require to complete the project.
Limitations to be considered in the project.
Current skills.
Criteria for success
Needs of the project
Research
A number of examples.
Research joining methods, finishes, other requirements of the project.
Tools, Machines, Processes and Technology
Create a list of tools, safety, and image of the equipment used in the production of the project.
Describe the different material and resources required in the construction of the project.
Safety Factors
Describe the safety considerations for each stage of the production of the task.
Design Concepts
At least 3 sketches of the possible solutions.
Developed Ideas
Develop your desired solution further, including dimensions, materials, annotations.
Working Drawings
Create a dimensioned orthogonal and an isometric.
Cutting List
Create a cutting list of all the components and calculate the final cost using the information supplied.
Project Modifications
Describe modifications and changes made to your project during the construction.
Final Evaluation
Compare you final project to the criteria the you describe at the beginning of the design process.
Complete a final evaluation of finished project.
The following are some ideas that you might want to consider using in your coffee table.
A simple table with a laminated top using 2 different materials. The top is supported by rails on all four sides.
A simple table with a laminated top using 2 different materials. The top is supported by rails on all four sides.
A shelf that i supported by rails at the end have been included.
A simple table with a laminated top using 2 different materials that has been placed on a angle to give a different effect. The top is supported by rails on all four sides.
The table top here has a checker board style top achieved but laminating two different colour timbers then cutting them into offsetting each one.
The top is supported by rails on all four sides.
A simple table using the same material for all parts of the table. A glass section has been included into the table top.
A table with a laminated top using 2 different materials, the direction of the laminate is perpendicular to the table.
A draw has been included in this table.
A complex table including a number of features that will increase the amount of time and effort required to manufacture this table.
These features include a chess board, with a timber frame in the top if the table.
There is also a draw included in the design.
