There are a number of different scales that can be used to present the drawings, the scale that you decide to use will depend on the amount of detail that you are trying to show and the size of the paper.
The following table shows a list of the most appropriate scale of the drawing that need to be completed in Architectural Drawings.
There are a number of conventions that need to be used in the drawing of elevations and house plans. The following are a list of the required methods to be used for drawing windows, doors and stairs.
Horizontal sliding window with fixed sash.
Vertical sliding windows.
Hinged Top of Window
Pivot top and bottom
(short lines indicate pivot point)
Fixed window.
Window in plan view
Single hinged door.
(Hinge is at the right hand side)
Sliding Door.
Single Hinge Door in plan view.
(90° swing, with hinge on the left)
Archway.
Internal or Cavity Sliding Door.
Exposed sliding door.
Ramp.
(Arrow shows the slope down).
Stairs.
(The full number of steps should be shown, the arrow indicates the slope down).
