Audrey Meaney Prize

The Audrey Meaney Prize

From 2012 onwards, administration of the awarding of the Audrey Meaney Prize has been passed on to Macquarie University and the University of Sydney, with a prize being awarded by each institution for the amount of $100, from SMRG. A list of winners of the prize can be found here.

Prior to 2012, each year, SMRG Inc. offered A$150 for an essay in Mediaeval, Renaissance, or Early Modern history, literature, music, art or archaeology.

A second prize of A$50 could also be awarded.

Previously, entries for the prize must have been submitted to an under-graduate unit of study in any University in NSW during 2005 (that is, essays must have been written in the year in which they were submitted for the prize). Essay length: a substantial essay, which would usually be upwards of 2000 words. Essays could be entered either by the individual student or by academic staff.
