Okay, for lack of anything better to do, I decided to provide a links page to some of the most interesting things I've found on the Web. At least my favorite stuff, anyway.
ICON/AVATAR/IMAGE CREATORS
- Church Sign Generator - This is too much fun, making up offensive, fake, but realistic-looking church signs!
- Create My Picture - Formerly a Spanish site, now transferred to U.K. control.
- Gaia Dream Creator - This is one of the best chibi avatar-makers to come down the pike. Pretty diverse with oh-so-many clothing options, plus accessories, and interesting variants on everything. The endwork looks really good.
- Hero Machine - A really cool program that lets you design your own superhero, potentially based on yourself. See? It's irresistable.
- Otaku Avatar Maker - ...sigh, once again, this is gross misapplication of "otaku". In this case, in particular, they meant to say "chibi"...
- Portrait Mail - E-mail your picture, get a manga-style avatar back! (Instructions in hovertext if buttons aren't working.)
- Signmaker - Create your own highway signs! This is too much fun! How can something so simple be so much fun!?
COMICS
- Cat and Girl - The cat is very simple and naive, but affable; the girl, while cute, is very politically aware and cynical. Why do they hang out together? Must be the sex.
- ChoppingBlock.org - Crazy, fucked-up comic about a sociopathic murderer. But very intelligent and genuinely funny, not merely gratuitous!
- deadmouse - The artwork is classically-inspired, like Dame Darcy or Maakies, but the skill is not quite up there. However, there's some bizarre storytelling going on here.
- Glue Meat - Kind of a sharp-edged cutesy strip. It's okay if you're practicing to have a lousy attitude, but it's not an advanced course.
- Nine Planets Without Intelligent Life - "A philosophical road comic about two unemployed robots on an improvised interplanetary voyage of self discovery."
- Renée French - Illustrator, raconteur: very, very disturbing in the effective, cerebral way that so many aspire to, yet fail to imitate successfully. Her blog is here.
- Slow Wave - This guy draws comics based on people's dreams that they submit to him. No, really, it's cool and frequently hilarious! I mean, I laughed...
- A Softer World - Conceptual photo-strips that may feature allusive, wistful humor. It's much funnier if you read it aloud in a deadpan voice.
- Toothpaste For Dinner - Little felt-tip cartoons that would be funny if your friend was drawing them on napkins and handing them to you at a club. But a website full of them?
- When I Am King - A very intense, humorous, trippy serial strip. Take an afternoon out and read through it all, it'll be worth it. It really pushes the "physical" boundaries of the online comic.
ANIMATIONS, FILMS
- 32 Ways to Open a Beer - Auf Deutsch!
- Albino Black Sheep - Huge collection repository for superlative Flash fanimutations (and other downloadable material, whatever)!
- All Your Base - The classic animation, and it still plays on this site. Not like there aren't a thousand mirror sites for it.
- Augenblick Studios - Beautiful, smooth animation with good scum-of-society humor.
- Big Bunny - Is there anything Amy Winfrey can't do? Here's a series of gently misanthropic tales revolving around mostly naive kids and a ravenous bunny the size of a house.
- Burnt Face Man - A very humorous, absurd, and slightly offensive online comic that's actually well done in terms of smooth animation. Good voices, too.
- "Creep" - Absolutely beautiful Flash animation done to accompany accoustic version of Radiohead's classic single.
- Ddautta - A very charming and entertaining animated story about interspecial relationships. Music: "There She Is", by Witches.
- The Devil's Tramping Ground - A series of really nice Flash animations based on traditional American superstition, my favorite kind!
- Don't Think Twice - Picture of Bob Dylan is drawn (and undrawn) with his own lyrics, to his music. Very cool visual.
- Drag and Go Back Spezial - Click to grab some of her ass, drag it, then release to watch her shake it like Jell-o.
- Dress'm Up Dubya - Brought to you by the fine folks at Oddcast, you can dress the Senate-elected president up how you like and have him recite his own stupefying speeches. More than worth the price of admission.
- Eugene Mirman - The fabulous crooning boy! Hear him sing your favorites! Watch him, 'cos he'll do it, too!
- Evan Mather.com - One man's campaign to reimagine the Star Wars universe through its action figures and a liberal reworking of thes script.
- FAKE - This one was just bizarre. Cute little moralistic tale about getting what you want, I guess.
- Fensler Film - The link takes you to these corrupted, comedic reworkings of the old G.I. Joe PSAs.
- Fly Guy - Fun, explorational animation: guide the Fly Guy around and interact with what he finds in the sky. Just when you think you've seen it all, there's more...
- Frog Porn 101 - This is darkly, grotesquely funny. Not funny like you want it to be, but funny the way things end up being. I like that there's no music, I think that makes it worse.
- Ganguro Girl 1.5 - Online Flash adult "love sim" game in which you hone your social skills to date (*ahem*) various women.
- Golden Boy - Weird kinda little story that doesn't make any sense about a supernatural baby. You might want to mute the sound for this one, that one note is going to really set your teeth on edge.
- Hi-HO - "It's an ad for an ISP run by Panasonic," my friend tells me. I like these short little stories that combine anime weirdness with reverence for traditional culture.

- Ill Will - The life and times of an angry little squirrel who seems to be gaining popularity against the odds.
- Japander.com - Cool website where you can see American actors Japanese commercials. You've got to see the Arnold Schwarzenegger spots!
- Jouva's Waste of Bandwidth - A collection of Flash animation movies, some of which are new and unique to this place.
- Kikkoman! - Learn of the exciting adventures of Kikkoman, flavoring food around the world! Learn of his enemies, banana and shrimp! And go to The Official KIKKOMASU Website!
- Leave It To Bush - Highly amusing little story about why Bush shouldn't be allowed to speak.
- The Lonely Astronaut - A little film about an astronaut left on the moon. It's okay.
- Making Fiends - Wunderkind Amy Winfrey cranks out this fun animated series of dark humor and cutesiness guaranteed to take several minutes to watch. Engjoy!
- Mashimaro - Formerly "Marshi Maro" for "marshmallow", this is the story of a sociopathic little bunny that became an international craze.
- Meat or Accident? - Delightfully repulsive little game in which you guess whether the thumbnail is of a section of meat or someone's gruesome injury.
- Molecular Expressions - Quick slideshow in which one is taken from outside the Milky Way to inside a molecule. Boggling!
- MondoMiniShows - Artists' collective that hosts very well-executed animations for a variety of subjects and clients... yet with the stink of corporation about them. Still, worth checking out (as long as you don't buy anything).
- Muffin Films - Amy Winfrey strikes again with this bizarre little series of animated shorts about muffins. They're kind of bizarre and highly addictive.
- NAILS - Bizarre series of intricate and involved animations, interactive stories, etc. You really have to poke around to find everything, but it's worth it.
- Newgrounds - An intensive collection of the best animation and interactive games out there. This will kill many afternoons of work for you.
- Ninjai, the Little Ninja - Well-done animation, but the author sometimes removes all the episodes to "keep it fresh". Idiot.
- Oddcast (V)Host SitePal - Kickass pioneering flash technology that lets you write or record messages that are recited with more-or-less synch'ed up animation of men and women! You can make them say sexy things that you wish real people would say to you. You can email messages to your friends!
- Odd Todd narrates days in the life of being unemployed and wanting stuff. Freakin' hilarious and superlatively done. Check it out: there are a lot of other funny things here too. Make your online connection pay for itself!
- Passion of the Vax - My pal Lucien created a Flash enactment of the creation and maintenance of the coolest BBS around, Ed's Room..
- Poke the Bunny - Go on, poke it. Poke it some more. It likes it. And turn up your speakers.
- Princess - A couple really, really fucked up cartoons made by the creators of South Park. Yes, even worse than that.
- Programming Language Inventor or Serial Killer? - Can YOU tell the difference? (I got 8 out of 10.)

- Weebl and Bob - You know, the rocking egg-type thing that says, "'Lo, Bob. You have pie?" It's worrisome.
- Weebls Stuff - Apparently two rocking eggs with speech impediments wasn't good enough: he had to go and create a whole freakin' series of stunning animation with catchy tunes.
- Xiao Xiao - This is f**king sweet! The creator of this series of animation is industrious, foreign, and highly imaginative! Beautiful fight sequences and amusing cultural references make for prime entertainment.
- Yatta! - The original video of the Japanese sensation! (This is a ZIP file of a 7MG film clip for you to download.)
- Yatta (parody) - This is the fanimutation of the original 'Yatta!' video, it's pretty damn good too.
- You f**king Dwarf - As cute as it is offensive, and pretty bizarre and fun to look at. Turn your speakers up and RAWK OUT.
- Yuk Yuk.com - One metric buttload of interactive Shockwave animations and such. Cartoons, games, comics, everything.
- Zombo.com - Dees ees ZOMBO.COM! Welcome to ZOMBO.COM! Welcome. You can do anyting at ZOMBO.COM!
