This is a very old website, with very old links, converted from Google Classic to the new Google Sites. Little of it will be updated.

Now I'm undergoing a process of transition: getting rid of my Yahoo account and pushing everything over to my Gmail account.
Tricky! I have to sift through all the old e-mail in Yahoo and find who all I've done business with in the last few years, then login to those account and update my info (either supplying the Gmail address or deleting my account altogether). This has called for a lot of "Forgot Your Password?" requests and resets, but it feels good to get all this done. Also, Gmail has a very handy program by which I can import my Yahoo address book into Gmail... but it's not infallible and I've noticed one address that didn't transfer over, so I have to wonder if others failed as well.
Yahoo also has a convenient print program which allows me to create a hardcopy directory of all my contacts or convert the addresses into laser printer labels. I could actually mail everyone my new contact information and request their preferred contact info in return. I feel bad that Yahoo offers such a handy service and I'm planning on leaving them. Actually, I was a Yahoo customer a long time ago, way back when my GeoCities account got bought out by Yahoo. So getting rid of this e-mail account is getting rid of a pretty substantial legacy.
Yet I like Gmail better. It offers great services for free--it used to be that Yahoo had the advantage but Gmail quickly caught up. Their spam filtering programs are pretty comparable, but Gmail is constantly designing new features for its users, while Yahoo is content to sit on its ass for a while. You have to pay for a premium Yahoo account or else you're inundated with junky ads filling the screen, where Gmail is entirely free and the ads are fairly out-of-the-way. Gmail is also much more customizable, whereas I cannot shake the GeoCities account free from Yahoo so I keep receiving spam associated with my old e-mail account.
I think I'm about done. I'm interested in looking at all these old business accounts again--I deleted my Monster and CareerFinder accounts, finally--and remembering what online resources I'm connected with. It has been a very enlightening process and I think I'm actually almost done with it.
