Rocky River
Introduction
Introduction
The Rocky River begins in Cass County and becomes paddlable near Marcellus, MI. Upstream of Howardsville the river meanders through a large marsh area with very little development and is very pretty in areas. Below Howardsville the river becomes more like other smaller rivers in the St Joe River Watershed: sandy bottom, clear water, windy, prone to downed trees blocking the river, and where the river is undeveloped it is very pretty. The map below contains 9 access sites and 21 miles of river to paddle. There is a old dam shoot just above the confluence with the St Joe River in the town of Three Rivers, MI that should be scouted and portaged if needed.Â
