Introduction
The Dowagiac River is covered in some Michigan canoe guide books and considered one of the fastest flowing rivers in the area. The river is very pretty in places and during the spring wildflower blooming season it can be very colorful with redbuds, dogwoods and a variety of flowers along the banks. The map below contains 7 access sites and about 18 miles of river starting at the canoe livery on Highway 51. There is one dam on the river at Pucker Street that is being considered for removal.
