Will of William Hody August 22^nd 1730 (proved August 28^th 1740)

This is the last Will and Testament of me William Hody of Spetisbury in the County of Dorset Esq. made the Twenty Second day of August in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty First I Will and Order that my just Debts be fully paid and satisfied and for that purpose I give and Devise unto my loving Friends Robert Lewen of Blandford Forum in the County of Dorset Esq. and Thomas Fitch of High Hall in the said County Esq. and to their heirs all and singular my Mannor or Mannors Lands Tenements and Hereditaments and all my Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever within the Countys of Dorset Somerset and Wilts or Elsewhere within the Kingdom of England with their appurtenances Upon Trust and for the purpose that they or the Survivor of them or the Heir of the Survivor of them shall by Safe Mortgage or other Security of all or any part of my Mannor or Mannors Lands Tenements and Hereditaments and Real Estates as they or the Survivor of them or the Heirs of the Survivor of them shall think fit and proper raise pay Satisfye and discharge in a just and generous manner all my just Debts and Legacyes and for the Trust and purpose aforesaid I also give to the said Robert Lewen and Thomas Fitch all and singular my Goods Chattles and personal Estate and from and after payment of my Debts in manner as before directed I give and devise all my Mannor or Mannors Lands Tenements and Hereditaments and all my Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever within the Countys of Dorset Somerset and Wilts or elsewhere within the Kingdom of England to my Brother Doctor Edward Hody his Heirs and Assigns for ever Item I give to my Sister Elizabeth Hody Fifty pounds and to my Sister Ann Hody Fifty pounds if living at the time of my death Lastly from and after payment of my Debts and Legacyes in manner as aforesaid I give the rest and residue of my Goods Chattles and personal Estate to my said Brother Edward Hody and do make him whole and Sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament revoking all other Wills by me made In Witness whereof I the said William Hody the Testator have to this my Last Will and Testament set my hand and seal the day and year first above written Wm Hody

This Will was proved at London the Twenty Eighth day of August in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty before the Worshipfull Robert Chapman Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipfull John Bettesworth Doctor of Laws master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Edward Hody Doctor in Physick the Brother and Sole Executor named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattells and Credits of the said deceased & being first Sworn only to Administer
