Hire of the Hall

We have VERY LIMITED availability to hire the church hall at weekends only. The hall is in use as a nursery school on all weekdays throughout the year. Please contact us if you wish to discuss hire, but you must have an existing connection with us - such as being a church member, or a parent at Melrose Nursery school. A small kitchen is available (for making drinks, or preparing simple meals), as well as toilets, baby-changing, a conservatory, a fully-enclosed outside playground, and some car parking. The following charges apply for private hire (e.g. parties).

PLEASE NOTE these important CONDITIONS of hire:
> All rubbish must be removed from the premises at the end of your hire (bins are not available)
> The hall must be cleaned and left in the same condition in which you found it

Rates (correct at September 2023)

• £120.00 - base rate, including use of hall for up to 2 hours

• £30.00 - extra charge for each additional hour (after the first two)

Please ensure that your TOTAL hire period is longer than your event, thus leaving you additional time for setting up beforehand, and for cleaning up afterwards.

General information

A deposit is payable by hirers IN ADDITION to the hire charges; the amount of the deposit varies according to the type of event being held, and the expected number of participants. Deposits are typically around £100, and are returned to the hirer after the event, as long as no damages have occurred. No deposit is required from members of St Gabriel's Church.

The Church Hall CANNOT be booked over the telephone. Please email your request, and we will send an application form if appropriate.

Hire of the Church

Our church is a large and impressive structure which soars above the surrounding buildings, to form a real local landmark. With its exceptionally high ceilings and gothic arches it makes an atmospheric and beautifully acoustic venue for concerts and exhibitions, as well as local community activity. There are groups which regularly hire the church building for community use, and we have one-off hires for concerts and rallies. Please contact us if you have a proposal.

Hire of Narthex only (includes lighting & heating)

£60 per hour (hours 1, 2, & 3)
£35 per hour (from hour 4 onwards)

Hire of Main Church Nave (includes lighting, but NOT heating)

£120 per hour (hours 1, 2, & 3)
£75 per hour (from hour 4 onwards)

Heating is charged separately in the nave.
