Creating and using cross references

Primary part number(the one in the top box) should be most current number. Worldpac is usually pretty good about keeping their numbers up to date.

If there is only one alternate number, just add it into the alternate field.

1. If there are going to be multiple x-refs, the part number that your selling under should be placed in both primary and alternate fields
2. use the "inventory entry" function under the inventory button to create a new inventory item
3. Fill the primary number into the "part number" field
4. Fill in a part description
5. Fill the cross-reference number in the alternate field
6. A unique descriptor has to go into the "line code" field. It is extremely useful if you need to keep track of different brands that are sold under the same part number, otherwise xr1,xr2, etc will work smoothly to I.D. that the number being used is a x-ref.
7. It is useful to put "old number", or some other identifying info in the "other information" field.
8. Insert "NS"(not stocked) into location for inventory control.
9. Dont forget to save.

Alternate numbers can be searched by either typing the number into the lower "alternate number" field in the inventory screen, or if in a repair order by clicking the "alternate number" box and searching. NOTE: If part number is found by alternate number in a repair order, the "alternate number" box will need to be unchecked and the part searched again. The first part found is the alternate item and the real part/part number will not be relieved from inventory and will probably have incorrect priceing, if any.
