There is a volvo software package and procedure that allows for the programming and coding of used ecms. It requires that you have the original ecm in its original car. The software sucks all the programmed data and stores it so that it can be reinstalled into that car. (volvo software number 891406) They say this is for test purposes only. If you believe the car needs an ecm, volvos only recommended repair is a new one.

We are not able to do this as they do not give us access to this software.

This aparently applies to TCM, CEM, and DIM as well
