The Renal Unit provides training in all aspects of Nephrology including renal transplantation with active living donor, and cadaveric - including non-heartbeating donor - programmes. The unit performs 80-90 renal transplants annually. St. George’s is a tertiary referral centre for complex haemodialysis access. Training is provided in peritoneal dialysis and haemodialysis. Research opportunities are available in the Academic Department of Renal Medicine with special interests in autoimmunity, clinical pharmacology of the immunosuppressive drugs and cardiovascular disease in patients with renal disease.
You will be trained in vascath insertion and native and transplant biopsies.
