Weekly Wakeup for the week of April 6, 2025
AA meets at our church every Mon, Tues, Wed, and Thu nights between the hours of 6:30 - 8:00 PM. The meetings are closed so please respect their privacy - which they take seriously. Choir Rehearsal, Wednesdays at 7:00 pm.
All are invited to participate in “A Lenten Journey to the Cross with UMC Area Churches. Final service this Lent, will be held on Tuesday at 6:30pm, April 8@Eastern Parkway UMC, Speaker: Sally Halsey from FUMC. Light refreshments after each service will allow time for fellowship. Please contact Pastor Doug if you have any questions.
Scotia UMC will be hosting a Maundy Thursday Dinner Worship on April 17th, beginning at 6pm. Please let us know if you would like to attend and look for the food signup sheets to ensure we have plenty of food for all.
Good Friday service will be hosted by Alplaus UMC at 6:30 pm.
The Rummage Sale will be Friday, May 2nd from 9-3 and Sat., May 3rd- 9-1. Volunteers are needed to start sorting and do set-up on Thursday, April 24-26 and Monday, the 28th, through Thursday, May 1st. Sign-up sheets will be posted on the hall bulletin board. PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TO THE LISTS!
Also, church folk can now bring their donations. Please put them in Classroom 1.
Sunday School this week - There will be no Young Disciples time this Sunday (due to our Communion service) and on Easter Sunday.
For the older students, Amazon Prime has a new series House Of David with new episodes every Thursday. This would be a great watch and springboard for discussion for adults and (at parental discretion) for older teens (as it is rated 13+) since we have begun discussing the Biblical figure, David.
Palm Cutting Party will be held on Wednesday, April 9th at 4:00 pm (note this is a change in time) in the middle classroom. Bring something to cut with and a pair of gloves to help separate the palms. Thank you! Deb Cieslak

The SUMC Church & Society Social Justice Group will meet every 3rd Wednesday at 1:30PM from now until May. Summer meetings to be determined at a later date. See upcoming dates: April 16, May 21.
