Sunday School Update
Our Sunday School is embarking on a new year with new ideas and new activities. It is never too late to join our classes, and we understand that some students will not be able to attend every session. We have kindergarten to fifth in the regular classroom and sixth to twelfth grades in the Upper Room located upstairs above the Loomis room. Our younger group is studying Moses and other Bible figures. Our older group is studying about the power of prayer and painting and decorating prayer boxes to be used each week. We will then be studying the prophets and leaders found in the Old Testament and then move to the New Testament so that we have a good foundation for further study.
SUMC has a very active Sunday School program offering classes for children ranging in ages from PreK through grade 12. Children and youth leave the sanctuary for class after having their own “Children’s Sermon” with the pastor to continue learning and growing in their Christian faith by studying age appropriate Bible based lessons reinforced with games, activities, arts & crafts and lively discussion in a fun, loving environment.
Classes are held from September through June with the exception of holidays. On Communion Sunday (the 1st Sunday of the month), a short class is held with the children returning to the Sanctuary to learn how to participate in Communion with their family.
