South Brunswick Lady Vikings Lacrosse Team Gets By Monroe Falcons 15-14

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – The lady Vikings Lacrosse Team had to mount a huge second half comeback to squeak by the Monroe Falcons Friday at home.

Down to the Falcons 10-5 at the half, South Brunswick poured on the offense, scoring 10 goals in the second period while only allowing four goals to take the match 15-14.

The Vikings spread the offense around with Emily Lorber leading with three goals, followed by Alyssa Ryan, Hailey Konopka, Amanda Palumbo and Shannen Sterner with two goals each.

Caroline Hvozdovic scored once and had six assists, joined by Lindsay Szucs, Briana Gonzales and Mary Rohrig with a goal each.

South Brunswick needed every one of them as the Falcons turned on its own power offense.

Monroe’s Kara Turco found the goal four times with three assists, followed by Jenna Morelli and Emily Guerin with two each.

Lesley Lane, Ashley Patten, Olivia Tucker and Christina Wong each scored a goal in the heated GMC matchup.

Despite Monroe goalie Josie Pagano’s heroic 14 saves, the Vikings ended up on top for the team’s second straight win making South Brunswick 2-0.

Monroe falls to 1-1.
