Ronald McDonald House Programs
When the best medical treatment for a child is far from home, families don’t have to worry about where to stay. At a Ronald McDonald House, families can be together, enjoy home-cooked meals, and receive compassionate hospitality and support from staff and volunteers — all near the child’s hospital.
The Sasebo Chapter has donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Tochigi, Japan.
Created in 2008, Designing Artists Academy (DAA) is an annual summer arts camp in Tokyo that offers children living in children's homes (orphanages) a unique opportunity to experience different forms of art taught by professional artists from all over the world.

YouMeWe Box of Hope - 2023
December
The Sasebo Chapter has been working in partnership with the NPO, YouMeWe Box of Hope, to provide gifts and Christmas cards for 62 children in an orphanage in Tokyo. We asked our Associate Members for help and, in the true spirit of Christmas, they really came through for the kids. These stateside ladies had to step out of their comfort zone, visit the Japanese Amazon website, create new accounts, choose gifts from a Japanese language wish list, enter a Japanese address, and ship the gifts to us. They did it! Many of our remarkable Associate Members also sent Christmas cards and checks for the Box of Hope project. Their generosity has been overwhelming.
Members of the Sasebo Chapter met with volunteers from YouMeWe in Santa's Tokyo Workshop to pack and wrap the boxes which contained toys, games, puzzles, stickers, stationery, coloring books, toiletries, socks, Christmas candy, and cookies. The children in high school received scarves, hats, books, gift cards, and Bluetooth wireless earphones.
The Sasebo Chapter supports JOEE. JOEE Educates and enriches the lives of the youngest children in Japan’s orphanages with drama, puppets, music, and storytelling in English.
Volunteer teachers and assistants are trained to provide lively, puppet-assisted English lessons to teach and delight the children using skits, songs, books and games. Our focus age group is two to seven years old, when much of a child’s language learning happens. Currently, JOEE provides free English language lessons in five children’s homes in Japan:
