Parashara Shodashavarga Observations

|| Om Gurave Namah ||

Dear Jyotishas,

We all know about the 16 Divisional charts mentioned by Maharishi Parashara. We also know the corresponding bhavas relations between the Divisional and Amsha for example 9th house and D9, 10th house and D10 etc.

Let me present in tabular form as below,

Let me make some observations, (Considering only the Paarashara Amshas).

a) There is no Divisional Charts corresponding to 5th house or 11th house given by Parashara (of course Jaimini and other have provided), The thought would be why Parashara did not give them?. If you see 5 and 11 th house are mutual facing houses (1-7).

Another implication is that for 5th house and 11th house deeper analysis we have to use only D1, if you use Only Parashari Amshas.

b) Other 1st house ( and 5th , 11th house) each bhava can be analysed from D1 and atleast another divisional chart for example,

2nd house from D1 and the divisional D2. In Other words 1st house is unique it has only 1 Divisional D1 i.e there is no D13, D25 etc.

c) Lets call 1st house divisionals as D1, 3rd house divisionals D3 and D27 and so on.

Then you see there are total 8 divisional charts from 1st to 6th house groups and 8 divisional charts from 7th to 12th house groups, in fact,

1st to 6th house = 7th to 12th = 8 divisionals

2nd to 7th house = 8th to 1st = 8 divisionals

3rd to 8th house = 9th to 2nd = 8 divisionals

4rd to 9th house = 10th to 3rd = 8 divisionals

So, there is symmetry or balance in chosing and dividing the 16 divisionals.

Warm Regards,

Sanjay P
