Upon joining SAFA, SA/ NT-resident members pay an annual membership fee which includes SAHPGA Membership – via SAFA’s Regional Development Levy (“RDL”).
SAHPGA Inc manages the RDL levy collected from SA/NT regional SAFA pilots. Historically and in recent years, SAHPGA inc - in an effort to minimise the financial burden on its members in SA and NT - has set levies to be just sufficient to cover costs.
The vast majority of the RDL is used to lease, operate & maintain flying sites.
SAHPGA covers a very large area and a large number of sites/ potential sites. Hence, funding needs to be allocated in proportion to the amount they will be used & by how many members.
Current funding is spent in the following approximate proportions as a percentage of funds collected
