You may not be in situation where learning is practical at this time, but you may still wish to experience HG/PG.
A tandem flight can be an excellent way to experience HG/PG.
A tandem flight will involve being in the same type of glider, but one which is a bigger and which is designed to match the weight of two people.
In this glider you and your instructor, with the instructor in control will launch fly and land together.
It is an excellent experience!.
Regretfully there are currently no local school is SA that does tandem flights, but the two "nearby" schools listed below, both supply commercial flights. This is just a consequence of the differences in population size of Adelaide and Melbourne.
There are some members in SA who may be able to do tandem flights, however experience has shown that because the requirements for tandems are slightly more stringent than normal flight, and due to the weather dependent nature of the sport it, one cannot just say I am going to do this tomorrow, consequently it is often better and less frustrating to find a tow based operation to do this. Most schools are tow based because of the necessity for regular flying to teach. Individuals who are rated to do tandem flights (please verify that they are suitable rated and document) will be present in some places and will often provide a tandem flight for a suitable number of beers to be consumed after flying :) . Contacting the clubs may provide this information, a couple of other nearby clubs are listed below but a full list of clubs is on the HGFA web site http://www.hgfa.asn.au .
The closest school to SA for a tandem HG flight would be Dynamic flight school in western Victoria, Rohan and his crowd are quite good, you can say hello to Rohan, he may remember me, I would suggest you ring and find out what they can do.
Some nearby clubs that may have individuals that can give tandem fligfhts are;
