Hi All,
When you access our private member pages and private discussion groups, we go use google's firewalls to protect and control them.
It is a free, easy and secure way to give levels of permissions and control access to our discussion groups and web pages.
Yes, you may not have realized that at the time, but when you were first given permission to access them, you would have most likely have created a google account to go with your email address, and then you used that google account, with the password you chose at the time, to get in. (Sometimes at the start I may have just subscribed you to a group directly to make it easy, so the will be a couple of exceptions to this).
However more than likely if you are having difficulty gaining access it sometimes means we just forget our passwords to the account, or maybe changed your email address
If you do, follow the following steps you can retrieve your password and get back in
1- Goto the main google account login page at this web address - https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount
note you can log into your groups and sites etcetera from this page also
2 - you should see something like below
when you do click the "I cannot access my account link" circled in yellow
3- you should then see something like below
click on the I forgot my password button - circled below
4 - it should then look something like below
Click on the "reset your password now" link
5 - it should then look something like this below
in the spot circled type in the email address of you google account
this most likely will be the address that all those group emails went to
if you use a google email for your groups and sites just type in the first bit before the ampersand ( @ )
if its another email then type the whole address in
6 - you will then be faced with something like this below
- this is just thier spam protection to make sure you are not a machine
- type the characters labeled here into the box below and press submit
7 - then you will see a screen like below.
and it has just sent an email to your address
if you click the circle click here to continue it will take you back to the original login page
8 - HOWEVER this is now not a problem because you went and checked your email and got a message like below
----------------
To initiate the password reset process for your
fred.smith@hotstuff.com Google Account, click the link below:
http://www.google.com/accounts/RP?c=blah blah;hl=en ( where the blah blah is some string of numbers)
If clicking the link above doesn't work, please copy and paste the URL in a
new browser window instead.
If you've received this mail in error, it's likely that another user entered
your email address by mistake while trying to reset a password. If you didn't
initiate the request, you don't need to take any further action and can safely
disregard this email.
Thank you for using Google.
