Campfire circle and Camp Quality
With summer quickly approaching there are camps available to those diagnosed with childhood cancers (up to ages 17-18 years). All programs are free to the cancer patient/child and siblings and as well there are some events geared towards the whole family/guardians.
There are 2 organizations that offer programming in regards to this: Campfire Circle and Camp Quality. Campfire Circle is the only camp, however, in Ontario that offers medical treatments on site for children who need either IV chemotherapy or blood transfusions. Both organizations offer overnight camp programs, community/family programs, and virtual programs. Campfire Circle also offers programming for bereaved siblings who have lost a brother or sister to cancer.
Overnight camp dates for Campfire Circle start July 1 and are ongoing until August 27 (various locations).
Overnight camp dates for Camp Quality start July 17 with last session August 20 (closest location is Rockwood, Ont).
If anyone knows of a family that fits the above mentioned criteria regarding a child diagnosed with cancer (current patient or survivor of any length of time up to age 18 years) please forward them my contact information and I can provide more details.
