Retrofitted Computers through Renewed Computer Technology Program
This information about the retrofitted computer program is cobbled together from several sources, including OW. Please confirm details with agency or worker. Apparently there is a 6-month or so wait for computers now, possibly due to COVID.
Ontario Works
Through an established partnership with Renewed Computer Technology (RCT), Wellington Continuing Education and Hope House, the County of Wellington Ontario Works program has the ability to provide desktop or laptop computers to support clients and their dependents with educational goals or to address issues of social exclusion.
Interested clients should contact their worker to discuss the program and to determine if they are eligible. If so, the OW worker will explain next steps including how to apply on-line and location for computer pick-up. OW covers the cost of the laptop or desktop.
ODSP
ODSP only assists with computer cost if the client is requesting it for employment related things (job search, virtual interviews, job related tasks, etc). If so, ODSP worker then determines if they are eligible for the employment start up of $500, which is available every 12 months if they start a new job and/or change positions with a current employer.
Renewed Computer Technology
Program Coordinator contact information is below. An agency/program may want to contact Mitch Doorey to ask if there are other arrangements that can be made with RCT.
