Throughout my Service Learning project, we had 2 fundraising events.
The first was for Singapore Children's Society, while the second one was to raise funds for our club in order to carry out our activities for our beneficiaries.
In order to kick off our monthly sessions with the Singapore Children Society (KidZShine), we had to organise a fundraising event to help raise funds for Kidzshine. We were given the donation bags to help raise funds and at the end of the event, we managed to raise a total of $1,000. These funds goes to maintaining the center for the kids in KidzShine.
As we carry out our monthly activities with our beneficiaries, we were always faced with one issue: lack of funds. Hence, we decided to have a fundraising event to raise some funds for our club so that we can fund our activities. In order to do this fundraising event, we had to take in many considerations such as the feasibility, the amount that we can earn, where can we get the support from etc. Ideas such as car wash were taken into consideration. However, we could not carry it out as we could not find a place to do the car wash since it involves getting permission from various authorities.

In the end, after much discussions and meetings held, we decided to collaborate with Tunglok and sell mooncakes. We spread the news amongst ourselves and took in orders for the mooncakes. Once the orders were closed, we sent the orders in to Tunglok and collected the mooncakes when they were ready. For customers who opt for the delivery option, we will split the work amongst ourselves and deliver it in order to save costs and raise more funds (there were delivery charges). The fundraising event was a successful one and we managed to raise sufficient funds for our club to sustain it.
