Grand Prix Rapids
Sunday Rapids is trying a new format known as "Grand Prix". A Grand Prix season will consist of 6 weeks. Each week, there will be a tournament of games. Players will earn points in a variety of different ways.Â
Overall Standings
Grand Prix Policy - Season 1
Entry Fee: $10 (each week)
Grand Prix Season Pass: $50 (saves $10). Includes Grand Prix Season bonus points and entry into all 6 season tournaments.Â
Season Pass must be purchased by week 2, January 28th, to earn bonus points
Time Control: G / 15, d10
Each player gets 15 minutes. Before a player's time starts, they receive a 10 second delay.ÂSection: USCF Quick-Rated Games. (Player's highest ratings between Classical, Quick, or Blitz will be used for pairings and prizes)
Does not affect Classical Rating.ÂUSCF Membership Required: Yes
Reno Chess Club Membership Required: Yes
Schedule: January 21, January 28, February 4, February 11, February 25, March 10, March 17, March 24
Prizes: Reno Chess Club Membership is required to collect Rapid prizes. If a non-member wins a prize, the prize will be applied to the player’s Reno Chess Club Membership dues for the year. Any balance left over after club dues are paid will be distributed to the player. Overall Season Prizes– tie breaks will be resolved using a tiebreak playoff match. Player with better Modified Median will choose color.

Schedule Tournament dates may be adjusted due to inclement weather. Tournaments canceled for inclement weather will be rescheduled on Sundays.
If fewer than 6 players commit to the Rapid Season prior to the start of the 2nd tournament date the Rapids Commissioner reserves the right to cancel season. The Commissioner will refund season players previously paid entry cost of canceled tournaments.
Grand Prix Point System
Players can be awarded points in a variety of ways.Â
Players will be award 1 Point if they:
Attend and complete a weekly rapid tournament (4 rounds), or
Win a weekly rapid game
Players will earn 2 Points if they:
Purchase "Rapids Grand Prix Premier Season Pass" (see entry fee section for more details) or,Â
Place 2nd in the weekly rapid tournament
Players will earn 4 Points if they:
Place 1st in weekly rapid tournament
