Blaming SHIELD and the government for what happened to her father and the ensuing coverup, she went AWOL and began taking any available path towards achieving vengeance— including nearly joining Hydra, falling in with a crew of villains in New York City, and taking contracts with red23.

Believing her a worthy successor— or, at the very least, the worthiest successor at hand— the previous Iron Fist passed the power of Shou-Lao to Grace as he laid dying during the attack on Norman Osborne's prison convoy in Manhattan in 2013... an attack which Grace and her villainous allies were staging at the behest of a shadowy cabal at OsCrop, the GMO agribusiness subsidiary of OsCorp.
