The New York Roentgen Ray Society holds one city-wide 3-day educational conference each year in autumn.
The Chiefs will let you know how to sign up for day(s) that you prefer; residents are approved for:
R1s = 1 day
R2s = 2 days
R3s = 3 days
R4s = 1 day
The Chiefs will poll the residents about your preferred dates of attendance and will create a conference schedule based on those preferences.
Register (as an R1) for membership in the New York Roentgen Ray Society (You need to be a member-in-training to attend.)
Apply for membership here: https://nyrs.memberclicks.net/membership
DO NOT pay any membership or conference fees (Lucy and Paula will take care of this).

CONSIDER APPLYING FOR THE ANNUAL $3000 CIR STIPEND AS A GROUP!!! More info here >>> Educational Funds
AIRP case submission:
More instructions will be sent directly to your email, so if any questions about the logistics/technical aspects of uploading, please reach out to AIRP directly via that email.
Select the case you would like to submit:
To find a suitable case, think of your Rad-Path presentation, or interesting cases on rotations (or from Body ICC, tumor boards, or other conferences).
Can be ANY CASE as long as it has a radiology-pathology correlate (i.e. routine like a polyp from colonoscopy, or zebra like Erdheim-Chester).
This means it needs BOTH (1) Gross image, and (2) histology physical or digital slide
On PACS, you will need to download a full stack of images (XR, CT, MR, US, or Nucs) - make sure it is anonymized before sending!!!
Check Epic for the pathology report - and SAVE THIS as you will also need to turn it in.
The report will usually dictate whether or not a case has gross images, i.e. "the specimen has been photographed")
Remember you also need a PHYSICAL or DIGITAL slide to turn in (yes you will personally need to go pick this up from pathology, if it is a physical slide).
When you turn the photographs AND slide in -- they need to be labelled.
So, if possible, try to meet with a Pathology resident or Chief to go over the findings with you.
Can also try this site, similar to Radiopedia but for Pathology (scroll down to "Textbook chapters"): https://www.pathologyoutlines.com/
Contact Pathology Chiefs email to find a Pathology resident to help you get images + slides: mswslpathchiefs@mountsinai.org
As of 2019, there is a specific PDF form you have to fill out and return (see bottom of page for file), with contact info (site-specific!!!) on that document.
For BI, you can contact the BI Surgical Pathology Office (11th floor, Silver Bldg, Ext 44-1747) to request slides, or Resident room (ex 20-2383)
If you submitted the form correctly, a Pathology resident will contact you and hopefully send images to you +/- instructions on how to pick up your slide.
Note, it will take at least 5 business days (or much longer, up to weeks or months) for images to be gathered and processed.
REMEMBER: You need to also go pick up a PHYSICAL (or if you are lucky you can get a DIGITAL pathology slide) to mail/turn in to AIRP.
Pick one (1) educational conference in your R4 year to attend. However this is unlike other conferences, in that:
Do NOT need to be presenting a poster/presentation to attend.
Can attend the full duration of the conference; however must find own coverage especially if on mandatory rotations.
Covered up to $2500 + still requires Travel approval request form
Must submit conference request 6 weeks in advance (email MSW admin team)
If any questions, please ask Chiefs or Dr. Kamath.
(Also located on the G-drive: Dept > RAD1 > Rad > TRAVEL)
