Activity 4 - NHL Uniform

First do a bit of background research regarding potential NHL expansion teams, including the possibility of another team in Toronto. You must choose one of the following cities as your client:

· Toronto (assume the team will play out of an arena in Markham, but represents the entire GTA)

· Hamilton

· Quebec City

· Saskatoon

· Seattle

· Kansas City

· Las Vegas

Once you have decided upon a city, conduct further research to answer the following questions with a PowerPoint.

1. What current (could be a different league) or previous hockey teams has the city had? List the names and find an image of their

main logo. Here is a great resource for looking at previous teams. Scroll down to find teams from the past.

2. What colours represent the city? (Look at the other sports teams from your city for ideas)

3. What is the city known for, what is the main industry? (This might influence your logo)

4. Decide on a team name and explain why you chose that name. It must be new and unique, so no Hamilton Tigers, no Quebec

Nordiques, no Kansas City Scouts …

5. Use your research to choose at least 3 (yes THREE) colours for your team. Justify each colour choice.

Using the ColourScheme Designer is highly recommended.

6. Find a font (again something unique) that will represent the team. You will be downloading the font and I will have to install it

for you. Create the text logo for your team in Photoshop. Use your colours. See example below.

7. Create a logo for your team. You need to show at least 3 different attempts at creating your logo. Your logo MUST BE original

and not just words/text.

8. Explain each element included in your logo. Why did you choose to include them and how are they appropriate for your city?

9. With the final logo, show 3 different colour combinations using the colours you chose.

10. Finally, use your logo and colours to create a uniform for your team. Uniform files are attached below.
