Dome Flat Linearity Test
Data Taking:
During the afternoon (or on a cloudy night), aim the telescope at the flat field screen and turn on the dome flat lamps to a typical brightness used for normal flat field exposures.
Take this series of exposures (without changing the dome flat brightness):
10s-1s-10s-2s-10s-4s-10s-8s-10s-16s-10s-32s-10s-64s-10s-128s-...-(to saturation)
The interspersed 10sec exposures are used to remove variations in the dome flat lamp output as a function of time (if there are any such variations).
This should only need be done in a single filter (e.g., i-band).
Data Analysis:
Generally not the observer's responsibility.
