Data Taking:
Can be performed under either photometric or non-photometric conditions.
Target field should be at low airmass (X < 1.2).
A relatively crowded field is preferred; e.g.,
Baade's Window (towards the Galactic Center) at RA=18:03:21, DEC=-30:02:07 (J2000.0).
An Open Star Cluster (see WEBDA)
A Globular Cluster (see the Catalog of Parameters for Milky Way Globular Clusters)
Need only be done in a single band (say i-band), but, for high-precision astrometry, it would be useful to observe the astrometric field in all five DES filters (g, r, i, z, y).
In general, a 100-second exposure (300 seconds in y) should be sufficient for PreCam on the Curtis-Schmidt.
Data Analysis:
Generally the data analysis is not the responsibility of the observer.
Use of SCAMP in the DES-Brazil PreCam Pipeline and/or use of other astrometric software.
