While it is important that math homework be done in a timely manner, it is even more important that math practice occur, even if it is late. The penalty is there to encourage timely completion.
LATE WORK POLICY
Homework assignments are due at the beginning of class. All other work is considered late and will not be accepted for full credit.
MAKE-UP WORK POLICY
When absent, it is the PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY of the student to complete any assignments missed as a result of an absence, excused or otherwise. Usually the teacher does not have time to explain a missed lesson during class, so the student has the following options: ask a classmate, come in at lunch or after school (provided arrangements have been made), or check with a study buddy. Also, when absent, check Google Classroom or Illuminate as most assignments are posted daily.
For each day absent, one day for make-up work is allowed. For example, if a student is absent on Monday only, the assignment due on Monday is now due on Tuesday. The assignment previously due on Tuesday is now due on Wednesday.
LATE WORK GRACE PERIOD
As a courtesy, a late work grace period exists during the quarter in which work has been assigned. Usually only daily assignments can be handed in late during the grace period. Some assignments may be too involved to allow for extra time. All unexcused late work will be reduced, typically to 70% credit. The final day any late work can be accepted for the given quarter will be announced. Usually the final day is the Tuesday or Wednesday before the end of the quarter to allow for the extra time needed for grading. Here are the rules regarding this grace period:
