Keeping everyone on task is a shared responsibility and parents can help out by checking their child's behavior on Class Dojo. I will be entering student behavior, both positive and negative into the online Class Dojo program during class. Then you will be able to see how your child is doing. The students are usually very motivated as they are given avatar personalities and this is an easy system where they can earn EXTRA CREDIT! Please check their progress frequently.
Students are expected to follow the Math Classroom Rules as well as the Pacific Grove Middle School Rules of Conduct. Students are given warnings (or conduct checks) for behavior that interferes with the learning process. Daily points are given for bringing required materials and participating. Points are removed for lack of participation such as going to the bathroom (unless there is a medical condition) and getting a drink of water. Bringing a bottle of water to class is allowed. Conduct grades will be given as follows per quarter:
"O" = Outstanding (0 or 1 warning)
This is a student who is punctual, polite, prepared, productive, and positive. Attendance is also outstanding. Zero (0) tardies are allowed for this grade.
"S" = Satisfactory (a few warnings)
This is a student who usually follows instructions and class expectations. A maximum of one (1) tardy is allowed for this grade.
"N" = Needs improvement (several warnings and/or at least one detention/referral)
This is a student who consistently (almost weekly) requires warnings from the teacher. Other interventions have been necessary such as calls/emails home. Also, students who have two (2) tardies will receive a "Needs Improvement."
"U" = Unsatisfactory (more than one detention/referral)
This is a student who requires warnings (more than once per week) from the teacher, and is consistently interfering with the learning process. Administrative referrals are necessary. Also, students who have three (3) or more tardies will receive an "Unsatisfactory."
