You know, I rarely write Perry oneshots for FF.net, as can be seen here. Most oneshots end up as Livejournal material only. And a couple of these were originally only on Livejournal as well.
The Case of the Captain's Ghost My very first Perry story ever was an attempt to soothe my heartbreak over Captain Caldwell's death in The Misguided Missile. It didn't help much, to be honest, as I still wanted most of all to simply restore him to life, but I did enjoy writing this piece of Major Jerry Reynolds being haunted by Caldwell, who wants to apologize for his grudge and for what went wrong with their friendship.
To make the story more accessible to the fanbase at large, I included Perry and Paul. I was nervous about writing for them, but it worked out so well that I was amazed and happy, and it led to better things before long.
Considered part of the main timeline: No. This is an experiment only, and doesn't gel with The Case of the Spectral Stalker, which is the official timeline piece involving The Misguided Missile characters.
Tomorrow Always Comes Written first for Livejournal and then posted to FF.net. This links to the FF.net version.
I focused mostly on my big multi-chapter mysteries, unlike how it usually is where I write a bunch of oneshots for a show before anything else. And this oneshot wasn't even up on FF.net for some time. It's a series of missing scenes from The Carefree Coronary, when Paul is poisoned by the bad guys. I wanted to see Hamilton's reaction, so he features prominently here along with Perry and Della.
Considered part of the main timeline: Yes.
A Touch of Honey Fascinated by Della and Hamilton's exchange concerning being "hostile" in The Surplus Suitor, I just had to write this little piece from Della's point-of-view as it dawns on her that Hamilton thinks she treats him hostile. She wants to rectify that.
Considered part of the main timeline: Yes.
The Collision A long oneshot I'm very proud of, in which Hamilton's car collides with a cab Della is in. She sustains a concussion, he, similar injuries. And their phones are either broken or dead. During the ensuing hurt/comfort issues, conversations are had. Meanwhile, Perry and Paul and Janet Brent worry over where Della is. (They don't know Hamilton is missing, too.)
Considered part of the main timeline: Yes.
The Good You Just Forget This is a unique piece, also originally from Livejournal, and actually part of the Lost Scenes from The Broken Ties series. Most of it is a flashback to events during Paul Drake's Dilemma, and I was so pleased with it that I wanted to put it up on FF.net by itself. The framing stuff takes place during The Broken Ties, around chapter 12. The plot concerns Paul and Hamilton's rocky relationship and what Paul remembers about the time he was arrested in season 3.
Considered part of the main timeline: Yes.
Conversation in a Cafe Written several weeks ago as an experiment in Della and Andy's friendship, I dusted it off today (October 10th, 2012) and read it over once more. I finally wrapped it up and decided to post it. There are some Broken Ties references again, as it was during that experience that Della and Andy became a bit closer, but mostly it examines canonical information. I've been puzzled over why Andy doesn't join Perry and company in social settings, when Steve and even Tragg often do. This story is an attempt to understand.
Considered part of the main timeline: Yes.
To Eliminate the Impossible Written when I had a sudden craving to write about Gene Torg and Pearl Chute from The Bogus Books. It explores their odd friendship and also includes Andy in quite an important role. If not for Andy, I would have left this on Livejournal, where it originally was.
Considered part of the main timeline: Probably.
A Home Christmas My first actual Perry story where Christmas is more than just a backdrop. It explores Deputy D.A. Sampson's rocky relationship with his parents, as well as his close friendship with Deputy D.A. Chamberlin and his family. I wasn't originally going to have Chamberlin married, but when writing this it just felt so right.
Considered part of the main timeline: Yes.
Detectives Have Souls, Same as Anybody Else This was an experiment to see if I could revive/redeem the character Glen Holman from season 8's The Telltale Tap, since at one time or another I've written for every other of H.M. Wynant's characters on the show. Paul discovers that Holman was one more victim of Dr. Portman who was brought back from the dead. And Holman, while not showing it on the outside, is just as damaged as the others who have turned up.
Considered part of the main timeline: Yes.
Commiseration This is classed as a Yu-Gi-Oh! story, but it consists of a conversation the character Duke Devlin is having with the Perry character Slim Marcus, from season 3's The Singing Skirt. Although I'm unsure whether to consider it as part of the main timeline overall, what I've done with Slim (and Tony Earle, from season 9's The Candy Queen) is part of the timeline.
Considered part of the main timeline: Maybe.
The Case of Sampson and Delilah A humorous piece that was inspired by me randomly thinking of the title while falling asleep and being highly amused. It involves a very bizarre day with Hamilton and some of his deputies. While Sampson deals with a femme fatale who won't leave him alone, Chamberlin has house problems like whoa and Hamilton has to juggle everyone's court cases for the day.
Considered part of the main timeline: Yes.
